Belinda Maria Gredig is a designer, knitter and weaver from Germany. Her collection, Fragile but Strong, is inspired by a girl’s journey between two worlds; the world of her grandmother’s house who has been living there for almost one-hundred years in Germany, and the blurred, uncertain world outside of it. ‘Her grandmother’s beautiful handicrafts and self-made, everyday life have shaped her inner world and ways of seeing,’ says Gredig. ‘The girl feels protected there, but at the same time she wants to be fearless and turn her fragility into a new purpose, all without forgetting her roots.’ Each look tells the story of the girl’s transformation. A trip to the Venetian island of Murano sparked a strong fascination for glass, a material Gredig has made wearable with her designs, and with which she hopes to experiment with further.
