Born and raised in rural South Korea, 26 year old Glen Baek relocated to proper his career as an ‘environmentally friendly fashion designer’. For nine months Baek interned at Carnet Archive in South Korea, where he assisted the team with producing toiles and pattern making. Using organic fabrics and natural dyes, in his graduate collection Baek has constructed loose overcoats, paired with trousers finished with a raw edge. Baek aims for this collection to be ‘a balance between technically engineered structure and narrative.’ Music is intrinsic to his design process, ‘Ancedote’ by E Sens describes the precious memories shared between child and parent, which Baek materialised within his graduate collection. Baek envisions the collection to be worn by the inhabitants of his home country, which he tenderly describes as ‘his people’. Aptly so, after he graduates Baek plans on returning to South Korea, where he will undertake new skills like pottery.
