Rin Choe is a 25 years old Womenswear graduate who recently moved back home in the countryside of Korea to finish her collection, in view of the ongoing lockdown. Although being stuck at home was initially a setback for her, she managed to carry on working and eventually realise her final project. ‘My dad is the main source that inspired my collection. It began from looking at his hobbies and life.’ From this starting point her research focused on golfing and the ‘business man’ aesthetic. To evoke a sense of movement, Rin Choe’s work explores alternative ways to 2D pattern cutting, using a captured moving image as a fixed detail on the garments. ‘I tried to realise the energy of a captured moment by incorporating it as a design detail through pattern cutting. From this, I came up with tons of different toiles. I find this practice beautiful,’ she says.
