Rui Deng, from China, is graduating Womenswear at Central Saint Martins. Her graduate collection is based on a tale that Deng wrote. Under a charming forest, a wedding party is joined by a mermaid, a knight, a botanist, a zoologist, a florist, and a tailor. Her fairytale fantasy is played out in a charming film about the wedding inside forest, plants climbing up the bodies of the characters as they celebrate. ‘On this BA course, I really learned how to break the boundary between art and fashion. This BA course opened up my mind to think outside the boxes.’ She got her first BA degree in China Academy of Art then got chance to study further in Central Saint Martins womenswear. Also she hopes to move on to the MA Womenswear course so she can further explore more in fashion and art. During 2017-2018 she interned at Burberry with womenswear runway team. She is currently running her own brand, RUI, which is a conceptual brand in art and fashion.
