For her BA Menswear collection, 23 year old South Korean Sangmi Woo pays homage to her love for sleep. ‘My collection came from my desire to sleep more during my placement year, which involved waking up very early in the mornings,’ she tells me. The looks are an amalgamation of references taken from the designer’s research into historical and vintage pyjamas. Pinch pleats, inspired by duvets, draw the eye’s attention towards the shirt-cum-blouse, styled with a crossbody duffle bag that doubles up as a portable cushion. If you could wear your bedroom, the designer’s look book paints an accurate image of what this could entail. The collection, which represents Woo’s visions of contemporary soft tailoring, feels particularly appropriate at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has forced many people to work from home.
