For Menswear student Sungcheol Bae, Covid-19 was not a show stopper. Instead the 30 year old designer completed his beautifully crafted garments and slick video between both London and his hometown in South Korea with no obstructions. Based on versatile and eclectic Italian artist Fornasetti’s ‘Garden of Eden’, Bae’s collection clearly takes inspiration from the artist in many ways. From the monochromatic colour palette with the occasional flash of red to the surreal art motif ceramics designed by Fornasetti transformed into circular cut out windows on his sleeveless shirts and video submission. Bae also utilises Fornasetti’s artwork into delicate prints across the garments, while the versatility of the artist has been converted into multi purposeful items.
